Kaarawan Ng Punong Mangga

Ilang araw na lang. Hindi ko naman talaga binibilang. Hindi lamang mapigilang minsa’y balingan lalo’t pasulput-sulpot siya't naninikis kapag napapatingin sa kalendaryo. 

Matagal ko nang iwinaksi sa aking isipan ang kaniyang mga ala-ala. Hindi ko gustong isiping hindi na  pwedeng makapaglaro pa. Sabi nila’y hindi na dapat naglalaro ang mga tulad ko. 

Ang mga larua’y tanging sa isipan na lamang nakalagi.  Toy Baloons, Children’s party, Confetti.  Mga pangarap na hindi natupad ngunit laging bahagi ng ala-ala.  mula sa kasiyahang ibinahagi lamang ng iba.

Walang katawan ang mga ala-ala.  Naglaho na rin ang mga pisikal na patunay na naganap ang mga ala-ala. Ang isipan ay mga bubog na lamang ng dating buong botelya. Mga piling-piling piraso ng gunita. Hindi kailanman muling magiging kristal.

Ang isipa’y pira-piraso ng mga tabla, pako at pawid. Hindi na muling magiging isang bahay-bahayan. Munting bahay na itinayo sa gilid ng malabay na punung mangga sa parang--Naroon pa rin ang parang.  May ilang tunay na bahay nang naitayo.

Bahagya na ring nabuwal ang ngayo’y matanda nang punong mangga. Wala na ang bahay-bahayan. Wala na ang mga bata. Umidad na sila’t nagkanya-kanya ng pakikipaglaro sa buhay. Nagkabahay. Wala ang taginting ng mga halakhak. May ilang humikbi na lamang, may ilang nakahulubilo at nakipagtawanan sa iba. Mayrong hindi na muling nakaluha o nakatawa pa.  Kasabay na nailibang ng mga ala-ala.

Tatlumpu.  Tatlumpu’t-isa. May takdang bilang ba ang pagiging bata.  Hindi na kailanman makapaglalaro.  Hindi na muling maitatayo ang bahay-bahayan. Patuloy ang pagtanda ng punong manggang nawala na ang mga dating kalaro.
